NCAA DIII Liberty League will use GoRout’s play-calling technology in-game in the 2024-25 season to strengthen coach-to-player communication
Rochester, Minn. (July 16, 2024) – The Liberty League, an NCAA Division-3 conference comprising seven teams, submitted a proposal for experimental use of GoRout’s in-game play-calling technology for the 2024-25 season. The proposal was approved by the NCAA in June, meaning GoRout Gridiron will make its long-awaited competitive football debut this upcoming season.
GoRout is a play-calling wearable that has revolutionized coach-to-player communication across all levels of football. The technology includes a screen worn on players’ waists or wrists that visualizes play calls sent by coaches. With one touch, coaches can communicate information and instructions to players. The system is completely customizable and limitless, enabling coaches to maximize efficiency and save time on and off the field with crystalized communication in real-time.
As agreed upon by all seven teams in the Liberty League, wearable in-game play calling technology will be used throughout the conference schedule. Each school will be supplied with 10 GoRout Gridiron Player Devices, 2 GoRout Gridiron Sending Tablets and a dedicated 24/7 Customer Service support representative.
Per the guidelines of the partnership, the following rules are to be upheld by coaches and adjudicated by the Liberty League as a whole: no more than 3 devices should be used on the field per offensive or defensive snap; there is no limit to the number of devices that can be on the field during a special team play; devices can be worn in conference competition or out of conference play (if written permission is granted by the opposing out-of-conference opponent); there will be no cut off on the flow of data from player to coach.
Coaches within the Liberty League agreed that wearable devices presented the most feasible way to introduce in-game play calling technology to the conference. GoRout Gridiron offers the most affordable, efficient, and secure in-game play calling solution on the market.
“Football coaches across the country have expressed the need for a solution to combat sign stealing,” CEO of GoRout Mike Rolih said. “Debuting GoRout Gridiron this fall with the Liberty League will only further validate the GoRout technology that is currently being used by over 300 teams in NCAA Baseball and Softball. GoRout Gridiron will offer coaches an affordable, efficient and secure in-game play calling solution and we’re eager to prove the strength of our technology alongside a forward-thinking conference like the Liberty League.”
Weekly post-game feedback surveys will be submitted to GoRout, and coaches agreed upon providing the NCAA with any other requested insights. Information gathered from the duration of the 2024 conference schedule will outline a process for future recommendations of the product at varietal levels.
“The Liberty League welcomes the opportunity to partner with GoRout on experimental in-game wearable technology,” Liberty League commissioner Tracy King said. “As wearable technology continues to evolve, we believe that it will become more prevalent, not just in football, but also in other sports. This puts us at the cutting edge of in-game technology, and we’re appreciative of the support that GoRout has provided.”
The Liberty League is spearheading the next evolution of football; one that prioritizes security, efficiency, and affordability for all.
